Pulse Diagnosis: A Clinical Guide describes to both students and practitioners a reliable method of pulse assessment. The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) patient examination has a long history of use of the radial pulse as a diagnostic tool and this book provides relevant and accessible information to support the application of pulse diagnosis in contemporary clinical practice.
The authors draw upon knowledge from both Chinese medical traditions and the biomedical system to gain a deeper understanding of how the pulse relates to illness and health. Discussion of the pulse extends beyond the traditional CM pulse qualities, so providing the reader with a useful guide to interpreting diagnostically useful information from the radial arterial pulse, even in the absence of a distinctly recognisable TCM pulse quality. In this respect the authors provide a framework to facilitate interpretation of the myriad variations in the pulse waveform.
